Since graduating with a Master of Clinical Psychology in 2013, Mel has worked across a diverse range of sectors including secure environments, mental health services, schools and in private practice. She has worked in multidisciplinary teams and independently and is passionate about providing quality, evidence-based therapy to individuals in the community as well as supervising other psychologists. She provides both short term and long-term therapy depending on her client’s needs. She uses an array of therapies and understands the importance in being flexible in response to her client’s needs – Mel believes not every client benefits from the same approach.
Mel believes in working collaboratively with her clients and any other professionals they may be working with including Psychiatrists, Dieticians, General Practitioners and School Personal.
As a therapist, Mel is warm and nurturing and occasionally likes to use humour with her clients. She believes that we all have strengths that we draw upon and help us function in the world and it my job to help you identify what these are and how to utilise them. Mel also believes in the importance of providing her clients with practical skills that they can utilise outside of sessions. It’s important that clients feel as though what they are working on in therapy is having an impact in their everyday life.
Mel has been awarded a Bachelor in Behavioural Neuroscience, a Bachelor in Applied Science (Honours)(Psychology) and has a Masters in Clinical Psychology.
